The Northland School Division Act was proclaimed in July 1983.  This Act called for the formation of Local School Board Committees in each Northland community and for the election of Board Members every three years in conjunction with municipal elections. 2007 is an Election year. 

Each School Board Committee consists of three to five members (depending on the size of the community) including a Chairperson and Secretary which holds meetings every month.  The Northland School Division operates under the guidance of an Official Trustee, who was appointed by the Minister of Education on January 21, 2010.  The Local School Board Committees remain in effect at the local level, in an advisory capacity.
